World-Famous Maestro Alan Buribayev Performed With Great Success in Hungary

Astana Opera’s principal conductor Alan Buribayev led the new Hungarian production of Prokofiev’s War and Peace in Budapest with great success.

The Kazakh maestro received rave reviews from music critics and independent journalists in the foreign press.

Here is what Wolfgang Sandner writes in the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung:

“In Alan Buribayev from Astana Opera in Kazakhstan, the ensemble had reliable support and an attentive leader of the orchestra and choir of the Hungarian State Opera, as sensitive as it was strong.”

Elodie Olson-Coons, journalist from Bachtrack, the world’s largest site for live and streamed classical music, opera and dance, agrees with her German colleague (January 29, 2023).

“The Hungarian State Opera Orchestra sounded spectacular under Alan Buribayev’s baton, the hall’s acoustics swelling the sound into something both immersive and feverish,” the article states.

Norman Lebrecht, who writes for Slippedisc, #1 classical music news site, noted the balance of the sound of the orchestra and the soloists (January 29, 2023).

“Kazakh conductor Alan Buribayev managed to keep the large orchestral forces from overwhelming the singers.”

It should be noted that the Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize of Kazakhstan Alan Buribayev performs in Hungary not for the first time. The conductor’s repertoire includes almost all the best examples of world musical literature. The Kazakh Maestro regularly collaborates with the largest symphony orchestras around the world and worthily represents our country and Astana Opera abroad.
