Two Evenings at Astana Opera – Madama Butterfly

The love story of a Japanese geisha for an American navy lieutenant will be told at Astana Opera on February 11 and 12. Puccini’s opera Madama Butterfly demonstrates the collision of two worlds: Western and Eastern, which will be presented at the opera house by both masters of the vocal arts and young attendees of the Astana Opera International Opera Academy. Madina Islamova will make her debut in the title role, Sayan Issin will perform her beloved Pinkerton for the first time.

The Astana Opera Academy Soloists to Perform Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta

The International Opera Academy soloists, accompanied by the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra and Choir, will perform for the first time a concert version of Tchaikovsky’s immortal opera Iolanta. On February 28 and March 1, classical music aficionados will have a long-awaited meeting with the great composer’s last opera, which celebrates the healing power of love. The music director and conductor of the performance is Ruslan Baimurzin, the stage director is Yerenbak Toikenov.

Super Azhe at the Opera House

New Princes in The Nutcracker

In early January, exciting debuts of talented dancers in the main role of the Nutcracker-Prince in Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet The Nutcracker will take place at Astana Opera. The uniqueness of the performance lies in the fact that the production was staged by the outstanding contemporary choreographer, People’s Artist of the USSR, laureate of the State Prizes Yuri Grigorovich.

Magic on the Threshold of the New Year

Astana Opera, in addition to its large-scale creative work, actively participates in charity events. On the threshold of the New Year, the opera house’s volunteers, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, held the event “There Will Be Magic” for children with disabilities and children from socially vulnerable families. Volunteers gave children gifts of sweets, toys and fruit baskets.
