Vocal Music Concert
(To the 150th anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninoff and the 85th anniversary of Yevgeny Nesterenko)
The evening of vocal music “A Date with a Romance” dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Great Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff and the 85th anniversary of the People’s Artist of the USSR Yevgeny Nesterenko will be presented by the opera soloist – the Astana Opera Opera Company Director, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Azamat Zheltyrguzov (baritone). Dolores Umbetaliyeva, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan, will perform the piano part.
The concert’s guest of honour is the People’s Artist of Armenia Barseg Tumanyan (bass).
Composer, pianist and conductor Sergei Rachmaninoff synthesised the principles of the St Petersburg and Moscow schools of composition and blended the traditions of Western European and Middle Eastern music to create his own original style.
The programme of the concert features well-known Rachmaninoff romances: Melody, Fragment from ‘de Musset’, A Dream, Spring Torrents, My Child, Your Beauty is That of a Flower, I Fell in Love, To My Sorrow, April, I was with Her, I Await You, Lilacs and others.
The audience is in for an enjoyable evening, the atmosphere of which will be created by the masterpieces of vocal lyricism and the charm of the performers’ talent.
